Why I Started Working at Millshots/ Who Am I?
By: Kennedy Wilson
Many of you probably know who I am or have spoken to me on the phone at one point if you have called to book a session, but if not… allow me to introduce myself! My name is Kennedy Wilson, and I am the Office Manager here at Millshots Photography. I started working here about a year ago, but only as a part time poser for our fall daycare season. I originally saw the job posted on Facebook, and I immediately thought that it would be the perfect fit for me. I grew up around photography, my dad had done it professionally for 13 years before deciding to retire from the photography world. I was so used to being in a studio, and working around the equipment, as well as being familiar with the software’s used such as photoshop. A couple weeks into the daycare season Mandy and Bart asked me to come to the studio to do some post processing for the daycare pictures, nervously I answered yes. I then quickly learned how to operate daycare season with ease and was in the studio most of the week, after daycare season had ended Mandy and Bart asked me to stay to run the office. I was shocked but knew that there was no better job for me, Mandy and Bart have become so much more to me than my bosses and I thank them so much for giving me the opportunity to do something that I love. That’s my story on how I started working here at Millshots, but here is some information to help you get to know who I am a little bit more. I am currently working on getting my bachelor’s degree from Fayetteville State in business administration, in the Army Reserves, married to an amazing man Seth who is stationed here at Fort Bragg, we are expecting our first child… literally any day now! I am originally from Greensboro, NC, I attended high school and college there before meeting my husband and moving to Fayetteville. So that is my background, but where do I see myself in a couple years? I plan on growing with Millshots and sticking around for years and years to come, I have enjoyed watching this business thrive and flourish and I cannot wait to see what the next couple of years has in store for all of us here at Millshots!.

“The photographer in me…” By: Bart Palmer
June 29th 2018
Starting off I wanted to Blog about what my dream destinations to photograph are, However I thought my first blog should be more appropriately about who I am as a photographer.
All my life I have had an Artistic and creative mind. From an early age I had a strong connection with music. I have played many instruments such as the sax, viola, violin and guitar. Guitar being my Favorite. All this being said, it paved the road to where I am now.
Being a “creative” I see things in everyday life that many people may miss. Small details such as the iridescent colors on a small beetle or the textures of the feathers on a hummingbird. I also have a strong sense for composition and visual balance that pleases the eye.
Of course life happened you grow up get a job, get married have kids, and get caught up in Adulthood. Don’t get me wrong! I Love being a father and love it deeply. Having time or making time to be creative can get pushed to the side. Not being able to be creative for a long time being who I am left a void. After many years my marital status changed leaving me with much time to myself. I got back into music heavily and along came the “smart phone” lol. With the smart phone camera I got into taking photos of flowers and insects in very creative ways. I then found a social media site similar to instagram and posted many pictures that caught the eye of some well established professional photographers that praised my photographs and really encouraged me to get a more professional camera.
For the first year to year and a half I photographed wildlife and grew a real attachment to nature. The photographs I was doing gained much attention and followers on many social sites including Facebook. I was approached by a young couple that insisted I shoot their wedding. I laughed and quickly declined. I shoot birds bugs and flowers…I know nothing about shooting people. Again they insisted and I caved. In short I nailed it and made money to boot. From then on my bookings grew and I was setting up many creative conceptual sessions. I have been hooked ever since. I absolutely love the joy and satisfaction
My clients have from the work I give.

“What inspires me to photograph…”
By: Mandy Culbertson
First of I’ll start this by saying welcome to our little space on the internet! This is a new thing for us here at Millshots Photography. Myself and Bart will be making a weekly blog for our clients and viewers about our every day experiences, things we are passionate about, and our little tips on photography! We hope you all get to know us a little better and come to enjoy this blogging experience!
I’ve chosen the topic “what inspires me to photograph”. Which I’m now regretting. Haha. It can be a very simple answer or it can be a deep emotional novel. There is definitely no right or wrong answer.
I think what inspires me the most is motherhood. I have a daughter, (Allie Jo-4) And a son,(Ethan-16).
I don’t believe I truly understood love until they came along. There is something so very magical about it, And I think capturing them as they grow is important. They are forever changing and growing. Their looks, their personalities.
I love documenting our life as a family. The true beauty in unconditional love. I’m blessed to have the ability to hold moments in time. To create memories that they can look back on one day and see how blessed and happy they are.
The love between a mother and her children is amazing and stunning to me. The little moments mostly.
Those times you are just sitting in your chair and your 4 year old starts having a conversation with you but all you see are the tiny details in her eyes. Her little button nose. How the light hits her hair so perfectly. How did we create such a beautiful little thing?! THOSE MOMENTS of love that I can’t explain inspires me.
I want to be able to pause time for just a second and remember every detail I see and never forget.
Photographing those moments mean everything to me. And I want to be able to do the same for other mothers. Capturing moments otherwise forgotten in time. I think it is such a blessing to have the trust and privilege to provide family’s the same emotion and detail I see in my children, in theirs.
